About
PREV-NET is a coalition in Northeast Texas that focuses on bringing together strong members of the community to reduce and prevent substance use among ages 9-20. PREV-NET mobilizes community resources and strengthens prevention capacity in an effort to reduce the impact of systemic disparities in youth. PREV-NET is looking for people that want to work together to build long lasting change in creating a better environment for our youth.
Services
- Evidence Based Education: helps youth learn about drugs and alcohol misuse, the way certain substances can affect the body, how relationships can be affected by addiction, and development of essential skills like setting reachable goals, making responsible decisions, identifying and managing emotions, and more!
- Community Outreach: reaching out to community members across various sectors (youth, parents, schools, youth serving organizations, law enforcement, religious organizations, health providers, government entities, and more) to mobilize and organize community efforts to decrease use of alcohol and drugs among youth, increase prevention efforts, and provide the resources they need to cope in healthy ways. We are able to do virtual and in person presentations and meetings.
- Information Dissemination: provide information designed to create awareness and knowledge of substance misuse, their harmful effects on individuals, families and communities, how to cope in healthy ways, and more! Virtual, in person, digital, and hard copy resources are available for various audiences (students, teachers, counselors, parents, health providers, and anyone interested!)
